The conception of the Ecocentric altruist

Defintion: Ecocentric Altruist

Eco: habitat or environment, ecological or environmental

Centric: Something at the centre, eg. an example of something centric is an organization that is at the centre of a world issue like hunger

Altruism: the principle or practice of unselfish concern for or devotion to the welfare of others

Having the concepts defined above at the heart of this blog I wanted to create a base where environmental issues could be explored and discussed, but also a website which brought compassion and humanity to our sustainable approaches. I want to inspire all of us to connect with nature, to recognise species other than ourselves and to realize the great abundance that comes from protecting and looking after our Earth. Many of our oldest traditional cultures are centred on this idea, that they were created to be caretakers of our natural environments.   Alongside this, most of our spiritual and religious faiths show us the importance of acting as gardeners for our Planet and as many of our Worlds issues continue to worsen, I think we all need to connect with this base idea, for our own health and wellbeing and for the good of this home that gives us so much.

This blog has been sitting in the back of my mind for many years, and I’m happy to say that I believe 2018 is the best for it to come into fruition. The Chinese Year of the Earth Dog, has already showed us so much positive action. To the movements against banning plastic, Gun Control, Issues of Equality, Protecting the Artic and many countries opting for Green Alternatives, it’s a time for both rejoicing and working. I hope this blog in some small way makes Environmental matters and activism easily accessible, so each of us can take our own course of action.

Peace x
